Charlie Parker - yes, i know he's a white lambie. but he was such an
early Bird this morning -- i saw him with his mama in the frosty field as it was
just barely getting light -- that i just had to call him Charlie Parker --
though i guess he'd be "Fieldbird" rather than "Yardbird"! (if you don't know
Charlie Parker's music, well.... no time like the present to start listening!)

Dot & Dotcom - today has
been another lambie-intensive day! one single boy and two sets of twins so far.
these twins look a lot alike, but the little boy has a black dot right in the
middle of his back, and some brown on his ears and neck, so he's Dot and his
sister is DotCom. (if you can have "A Boy Named Sue," why not a ram lamb named
Dot?)(unfortunatley Dots mother lay on him over night and we were unable to
revive him)
DOB: April 1, 9:30 am Sire: Sualtam, Ewe: O96 (46:27M,19F)
Lois & Clark - another
set of lookalike twins this afternoon. feeling in an adventurous mood, i was
going to name them Lewis & Clark, but then i remembered one is a girl. so i
switched from the Voyage of Discovery mode to Superman mode, and now they're
Lois and Clark. Unfortunately Clark crashed suddenly the night of the third and
we were unable to save him.
DOB: April 1, 2:30 pm Sire: Sualtam, Ewe: O81 (48:28M,20F)
Midnight Rambler - "Talkin
about the Midnight Rambler / The one you never seen before..." he wasn't exactly
born at midnight, but Ian found him when he went to the barn around 3:00 ayem to
check. good timing, little one! lucky you were found before dawn!
DOB: April 1, aprox midnight Sire: Sualtam, Ewe: NT2 (48:28M,20F)
Hunter - as i pulled into
our driveway after a seemingly endless day at my outside j-o-b, i was thinking
of the Robert Louis Stevenson poem "Requiem." as i peeked through a gap in the
trees, i saw a big healthy new lambie in the pasture with his mama. as we
brought them in to the barn, the poem was still echoing in my head, so i named
him Hunter. (if you know the poem, you understand. if not, you will when you
read it... do people still read poetry, i wonder??)
DOB: April 2, 4:30 pm Sire: Sualtam, Ewe: O84 (49:29M,20F)
Bart & Lisa - my
favorites are always the Shetland lambies, they are so impossibly cute! this
afternoon we have two new Shetlands, a black boy and a white girl. i started
calling the boy Black Bart, then that led to calling the twins Bart and Lisa.
don't have a cow, man!
DOB: April 3, 2:00 pm Sire: Guiness, Ewe: G31 (51:30M,21F)
Oreo - Oreo is the absolute
**prettiest** lambie so far this year. his markings are just gorgeous -- black
legs and tummy, black top of his head, white in between, and that incredibly
cute little Shetland face. such a beautiful baby
DOB: April 3, 5:00 pm Sire: Guiness, Ewe: G36 (51:30M,21F)
Flurry - After several
nice days in a row today started cold and drizzly, i noticed this ewe staking a
claim to a spot to give birth in, sure enough as the drizzle turned to a violent
burst of rain and snow out popped a nice little white ewe lamb.
DOB: April 4, 10:00 am Sire: Sualtam, Ewe: R14 (52:30M,22F)
Onyx - the X-Files boys
were born close together, one late last night, one early this morning. both are
almost all black with just a tiny speck of white. this is last night's little
Shetland boy, Onyx.
DOB: April 4, 11:45 pm Sire: Guiness, Ewe: G39 (53:31M,22F)
Oryx - this is the other
X-Files boy, whom i found first thing this morning, already up and dry and fast
as the wind! his name, of course, is Oryx. both X-Files boys are perfect little
Shetlands, compact economy models, fleet and adorable.
DOB: April 5, aprox 6 am Sire: Guiness, Ewe: G38 (54:32M,22F)
Loretty - Loretty is a
lovely little white girl lambie, she has a mellow voice that really carries,
like Loretty Lynn, and she has a sweet and generous spirit, like my friend
Loretty, so her name is twice ordained.
DOB: April 5, 6 pm Sire: Guiness, Ewe: G37 (55:32M,23F)
